Pope Saint Leo III (750-816) is best known for being the pope who crowned Charlemagne on Christmas Day 800 AD at Saint Peter’s in the Vatican. This event hallmarked the authority of the pope in the Western World and strengthened the bonds of the Church with the Empire.

Within the complex history of the Church, Leo III is a reminder that the Church speaks to the daily affairs of life. We must always preach Christ in every season and place.
