Pilgrims of Hope: Reflections for the Jubilee Year

What does it mean to have hope? Used casually, it can be wishful thinking. Hope rooted in Christian is the banner of the whole Christian life!

Hope is important for Christians, especially now. The Bishop of Rome has declared a Jubilee Year in which we are pilgrims of hope. I share thoughts on the Jubilee Year in an earlier post here.

I have been thinking about a work that I muse on as I consider hope. I thought of Pope Benedict XXI.

Pope Benedict XXI wrote Spe Salvi in the third year of his pontificate. The title is taken from Paul’s letter to the Romans. In this letter Paul says:

Spe salvi facti sumus —in hope we were saved (8:24).

Pope Benedict XVI reflects on hope through the scriptures and notable saints in our time. He will be my guide as I navigate the idea of hope in this Jubilee Year!

I hope these reflections enrich your experience as a pilgrim of hope in the days to come.
