I am continuing the dig through Pope Francis’ Delexit nos. The opening paragraph of chapter two captivates my attention:

The heart of Christ, as the symbol of the deepest and most personal source of his love for us, is the very core of the initial preaching of the Gospel. It stands at the origin of our faith, as the wellspring that refreshes and enlivens our Christian beliefs.

The heart of Christ is primary. God is love. He created us out of his divine and perfect love to be in communion with him.

The Holy Father demonstrates this point stating that Jesus proved this love through concrete actions. Jesus knew the science of caress as he touched many who came to him for healing. He ate with sinners and dined with them. He comes to us today… now. Let us welcome his tender touch as he wants us to live in the burning furnace of his heart.
